I was born 16 weeks premature w/ grade 2 ROP in my right eye, causing it to have a -11.25 -2.50x178 prescription; I am now 18, and have anisomyopic amblyopia. My left eye provides all my central vision, while my right eye provides all the peripheral vision on that side. I can't see behind my right shoulder, b/c everything is unimaginably blurry. A renowned colleague, Dr Dave Wallace FAAO (http://www.la-sight.com/meet_dr_wallace.aspx), of my ophthalmologist, Dr Leif Hertzog (http://www.hertzogeyecare.com/about_us.htm), says my best hope currently to regain my peripheral vision is to wear a Synergeyes contact lens in my right eye to provide most of the correction, and make up the difference in my glasses, so the power in each eyeglass will be equal. He says that when my eyes mature, I could get a Visian ICL intraocular lens implant (http://www.visianinfo.com/html/what-is.html). I have been featured on Dr Wallace's website as a reason why NOT to get refractive surgery, and why attempting to patch patients w/ severe anisometropia is useless (http://www.la-sight.com/when_we_advise_against_surgery.aspx) I hope my story will give encouragement to you guys, as I have severe struggles w/ depth perception. All the best, Doug
